The device (10) has a housing (12) formed with a bypass channel, which comprises a gas inlet (24) and a gas outlet (26) for crank case ventilation gas. A bypass valve (32) disconnects the gas inlet from the gas outlet. An oil separation device (58) separates oil from the ventilation gas. The oil separation device comprises a coalescence element (62) e.g. hollow cylinder, which is provided between the gas inlet and a valve inlet (64) of the bypass valve in a flow-technical manner. The coalescence element comprises a non-woven fabric, a mesh fabric, a granule and/or a wire arrangement.
