The method comprises producing a turbine housing during a casting process, and applying a supplementary material layer (2) firmly bonded outside on the turbine housing after the casting process in a section wise manner. The supplementary material layer: is produced by a thermal coating method and a thermal spraying method; and is formed from a material, which has a high mechanical resistance such as toughness than the material of the turbine housing. A wall portion (6), to which the supplementary material layer is applied, is determined by a simulation calculation. An independent claim is included for a turbine housing.
