The protection device (10) has case (20) that includes front wall (22), two side walls (24,26) and rear wall (28). A receptacle is formed in case for receiving lock element (14) of padlock (12). The front wall and two side walls are adapted to protect the closing bracket (16) of padlock from attack by cutting tool. The receptacle is provided with insertion module (36) having insertion portion (38) into which the lock element is inserted, and open side (32) which is securely inserted into case. An independent claim is included for locking device.
