The method involves providing a sound program transmission device with acoustic sensors and sound output for tinnitus masking. The sound program transmission device is used in combating hyperacusis, vertigo and dizziness. The tinnitus sounds are described as a passive system because the patient is not actively involved in the masking noise. An independent claim is also included for a device for covering up the respiratory sounds of a patient suffering from tinnitus by sounds or noises such as in the form of ocean waves or music into his ear.
