The method involves detecting a threshold value for an increase in output torque capacity using a controller (24). A changing rate of actual output torque from a gearbox (14) of a vehicle (10) is automatically limited in response to the threshold value by the controller. The actual output torque is provided by a high-voltage drive motor (12) only under utilization of battery power from a strived energy-storage system (22). A difference between the threshold value and actual output torque is computed, and the changing rate is limited using a ratio that is proportional to the difference. An independent claim is also included for a vehicle comprising an electrical storage system.
