Diketo compounds (I) containing at least one pentafluorosulfoxy group are new. Diketo compounds of formula (R 3-L 1-O-C(=O)-C(X)(R 1)-CH(R 2)-C(=O)-O-L 2-R 4) (I) containing at least one pentafluorosulfoxy group are new. R 1, R 2H, OH or CHY 1-COO-L 3-OSF 5; R 3, R 4H or OSF 5; L 1-L 3alkyl, where one or more non-adjacent C atoms are optionally replaced by O, S and/or N and optionally contains one or more double bonds, triple bonds and/or OSF 5groups in its chain and/or side chain; and X, Y 1an anionic polar group or H. Independent claims are included for: (1) the preparation of (I); and (2) a sulfosuccinate compound of formula (F 5SO-L-O-C(=O)-CH=CH-C(=O)-O-L-OSF 5) (VI) and a sulfotricarballylate compound of formula (F 5SO-L-O-C(=O)-CH=C(C(=O)-O-L-OSF 5)-CH(Y 1)-C(=O)-O-L-OSF 5) (VII).
