The system (2) has an attention detection unit (3) for detecting degree of attention of a driver of a motor car, and a regulating device (4) for implementing supporting interventions in longitudinal- and/or transverse guiding of the car. The attention detection unit automatically activates the regulating device when the detected degree of attention falls below a pre-defined degree of attention. A degree of driving support made by the regulating device is provided based on the detected degree of attention.
