The torque measuring shaft (100) has two axial flanges (1,2) that are displaceably arranged on a rotating axis and a torsion body (3) that is arranged between the both flanges, where the torsion body has two measuring zones (4,5). The measuring zones are axially arranged side by side. Each measuring zone has a torsional rigidity. The measuring zones are charged over the entire load range of the torque measuring shaft with the torque that is applied between the flanges. An independent claim is also included for a method of measuring a torque by a torque measuring shaft.
