The method involves monitoring control deviation using a control circuit so as to determine the manipulated variable. An actuator is actuated based on influence of manipulated variable in dependence of output of control circuit. An input of the control circuit is connected with measurement device for measuring corrosion attack in the steam generator corresponding to the actual value of the control circuit. An independent claim is included for device for detecting corrosion attack in steam generator of thermal plant.
