The method involves determining a time as a value of force acting on a carriage load in front of a boarding point of a vehicle occupant in a motor car (1) when the motor car changes from a closed state into a part-opened state. Another time is detected as another value of force acting on a suspension load after entering the vehicle occupant into a motor vehicle when the car changes from the part-opened state into the closed state. Difference between the two values is determined to obtain occupant weight of the vehicle. An independent claim is also included for a motor car.
