The axle (10) has a seal (12) i.e. outer oil seal, partially sealing a bearing (13) i.e. rolling bearing, against environment, where the bearing rotatably supports a flange element (11) i.e. wheel hub. An annular corrosion-resistant element (14) is mounted on the flange element. An adhesive layer i.e. sealing glue layer, connects the corrosion-resistant element with the flange element. The bearing comprises an outer bearing element (17) i.e. outer ring. The corrosion-resistant element comprises a rim-shaped portion (19) that surrounds an annular groove (18) of the outer bearing element. An independent claim is also included for a method for assembling an axle of a motor car.
