Composition (I) for coloring human keratinous fibers, comprises at least a cationic azo compound (a) and at least cationic direct dyes compound (b). Composition (I) for coloring human keratinous fibers, comprises at least a cationic azo compound of formula (a) and at least cationic direct dyes compound of formula (B 1-B 2=N-B 3) (b). A : 3H-imidazol-1-ium group of formula (aa) or pyridinium group of formula (bb); R 1, R 21-4C (preferably 1-2C) alkyl, preferably methyl; X -anion group; B 1heterocyclic compound of formulae (c)-(f); a : bond connecting B 1to N; X -(in formula (c)-(f)) : counter-ion ensuring electroneutrality of the compound; B 2-CH- or N; and B 3dimethylaminobenzene-4-yl, aminobenzene-4-yl, 2-nitroaminobenzene-4-yl, 2-methoxybenzene-1-yl, 4-methyl-1-phenyl-1,3-dihydro-pyrrol-2-one-3-yl, 3-nitroaminobenzene-4-yl or methylaminobenzene-1-yl.
