Seawater desalination plant operating by multiple-effect distillation, characterized in that it comprises a heat exchanger (62) for heating a feed brine for the steam box (14) of the first effect (10), this heat exchanger being supplied by an external heat source (S) at a temperature above 75°C, the brine being injected into the steam box (14) at a temperature above 70°C and at a pressure above the liquid/vapour equilibrium pressure for producing, by expansion steam that condenses in the tubes (12) of the heat exchanger of the first effect and is recovered in the water box (16) of this first effect.
