The invention describes a method for producing hydrocarbon base distillate bases from an ethanol feedstock produced from a renewable source derived from biomass comprising a step of purifying said feedstock, a step of dehydration of said purified feedstock into an effluent predominantly ethylenic comprising water, at least one step of separating water, a first step of oligomerization of the predominantly ethylenic effluent into at least one olefinic effluent comprising at least 80% by weight of olefins having a number of carbon atoms of greater than or equal to 4, in the presence of a homogeneous catalyst comprising at least one divalent nickel compound, a second oligomerization stage producing hydrocarbon base distillate bases in the presence of an amorphous or zeolite catalyst having at least pore openings containing 10 or 12 oxygen atoms, producing hydrocarbon bases distillates mo yens, and a fractionation step.
