The marine turbine (1) has a flexible bearing structure bearing vertical-axis turbine units (20-23) e.g. Achard turbine units. The bearing structure has a cable comprising strands interlaced with each other to resist torsional stress. The bearing structure is made of a material chosen from steel, aramid fibers such as poly para-phenylene terephthalamide, and polyamide such as polyamide-11. Ballast is provided at an end of the bearing structure to maintain the bearing structure. The bearing structure is connected to an alternator whose stator is connected to an electric cable (60).
