The device has a rectangular place mat (1) equipped with a fixation unit, and a rectangular bib (2) provided with another fixation unit that is cooperated with the former fixation unit. The bib is assembled to the place mat, and comprises dimension such that the bib forms a pocket to receive food. The former fixation unit comprises a self-gripping band e.g. hook, provided above the place mat. Another self-gripping band e.g. loop, is provided on an end close to an edge of the place mat that is made of shatterproof glass. The bib is made of sponge.
