The structure has photovoltaic panels (10-30) whose edges are in direction of a rake (R) of a roof (40), and side gutters (50, 51) extending along sides of the panels in the direction of the rake. A lower part of a piece (60) of the structure forms a sealing barrier to deviate rainwater toward the side gutters and to ensure ventilation at lower parts of the panels. The piece includes a base plate along the lower part of the piece with a lower part of a plane of the roof. A plate (62) is connected perpendicularly to the lower part of the piece. An independent claim is also included for a method for installing a mechanical structure.
