The support has support plates comprising a maintaining device for maintaining a book on the plates. Two sliding side bars (9) are placed on the right and left sides of the plates, respectively, where the side bars are adapted to a width of the book. The bars support a pages maintenance finger (10) that is maintained by pressure on a page of the book by a spring device, where the finger is raised using a lever (11). The support plates consist of lower and upper parts (1, 2) sliding on one another vertically to adapt the plates to a height of the book.
