The present invention relates to a method of calculating predictive of the geometry of a transverse section of a rib of the engagement of an ophthalmic lens as a result of the bevel of the lens by means of a beveling grinding tool controlled according to an initial displacement. According to the invention, the method comprises the following steps: - acquire the desired displacement of the beveling grinding tool with respect to the lens, - determine at least two approximations (s, s) of the geometry of the cross section in question of the rib of engagement, deduced from the intersection between the beveling grinding tool and the ophthalmic lens when the beveling grinding tool is located in two distinct positions of its initial displacement reference, - determine the intersection between these two approximations, and - deduce therefrom the geometry (if) of the cross section in question of the rib engaging.
