The filter has an inlet (14) connected to an upstream pipe for passing fluid to be filtered. An outlet (15) is connected to a downstream pipe for passing the filtered fluid. A filter body (8) includes a filtering element (19) arranged to physically separate impurities present in the fluid to be filtered. The filter body comprises another filtering element (7) i.e. physico-chemical filtering element, arranged to filter the fluid in a physico-chemical manner. The outlet traverses the latter filtering element, and is connected to the top of the latter filtering element. The former filtering element is in a form selected among square, right-angled, hexagonal, octagonal and the latter filter element is in a pyramidal form. An independent claim is also included for a method for filtering fluid.
