The method involves detecting beginning of a replacement cycle of a battery that supplies power to an electric drive motor, and inhibiting a movement capacity of a motor vehicle. A state of the motor vehicle is detected. Triggering of the replacement cycle of the battery conditioned at the state of the motor vehicle is authorized. A drive system of the motor vehicle is deactivated during the inhibiting process of the movement capacity. A validation of the replacement cycle is detected by a driver of the motor vehicle. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a motor vehicle (2) a data recording medium having a program for executing a motor vehicle operating method.
