The method involves acquiring current pressure of a tire, and detecting increase in pressure (102) of the tire. Reference pressure of the tire is calculated when the increase in the pressure of the tire is detected. The reference pressure is limited by values recommended for front axles and rear axles. The reference pressure is calculated by utilizing specific parameters including the calculated reference pressure of the tire, measured current pressure value of the tire, nominal pressure of wheels of the front axles, and nominal pressure of wheels of the rear axles. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a method for monitoring a tire of a motor vehicle (2) a device for monitoring a tire of a motor vehicle.
