The actuator (100) has an electric motor driving in rotation of a drive pinion (141) around an axis (Z141) perpendicular to a longitudinal axis (Y110) of a rail (110). A carriage (120) is moved in translation along direction parallel to the longitudinal axis of the rail. An open chain (130) is engaged with the drive pinion, and comprises an end (130E1) fixed at the carriage, where the end is guided by a guiding housing (111) of the rail. The rail includes a guiding housing (112) in which a free end (130E2) of the chain is moved parallel to the longitudinal axis of the rail.
