The system (2) has a calculation unit (4) for calculating a speed set point (CVD) of movement of a movement unit i.e. apron (16), based on calculation parameters e.g. predefined density (DE) of product to be spread, weight or volume (W/V) of the product contained in a container (10), predefined width (LA) of a desired spreading surface, forward movement speed (VA) of agricultural machine (1) and predefined dosage (DOS) of the product. A control unit (5) controls the movement unit and includes a closed loop control unit to control movement speed of the movement unit around the set point.
