The head for welding metal pieces for forming a planar target (5) using yttrium aluminum garnet laser, comprises a body (4) through which a laser beam (2) passes, and a unit for discharging plasma smoke generated by welding through a protection gas (3). The metal pieces are positioned side by side for focusing the laser beam. The discharge unit comprises a gas supply pipe, and nozzles directing the gas flow in different directions of the target. The nozzles are positioned close to each other, or symmetrical to one another according to the laser beam. The head for welding metal pieces for forming a planar target (5) using yttrium aluminum garnet laser, comprises a body (4) through which a laser beam (2) passes, and a unit for discharging plasma smoke generated by welding through a protection gas (3). The metal pieces are positioned side by side for focusing the laser beam. The discharge unit comprises a gas supply pipe, and nozzles directing the gas flow in different directions of the target. The nozzles are positioned close to each other, or symmetrical to one another according to the laser beam, and direct their gas flow at an angle of 40-42[deg] with the plane of the target. The head body comprises a chamber through which the laser beam is introduced at a pressure relative to ambient pressure. The chamber is closed on the side of the target by a pierced metal ring (6) to pass the laser beam.
