The aircraft has a front gear (14) that is movably assembled between an operational position and a rest position external to a fuselage (4). The front gear includes a mobile support (16) assembled with respect to the fuselage around an axle (20) perpendicular to a median vertical plane of the aircraft. The front gear includes a mobile wheel (30) that is moved with respect to the fuselage around an axis (26) parallel with the median vertical plane of the aircraft. An independent claim is also included for a method for operating a main landing gear of an aircraft.
