The method involves estimating a remaining distance traveled by a vehicle based on consumption in reducing agent i.e. urea, before a tank is empty. The estimation of the remaining distance and a predetermined distance is compared. The vehicle is driven by using a heat engine (110) and/or an electric motor (100) according to the comparison such that the remaining distance for the vehicle is equal to the predetermined distance. Driving of the vehicle is realized by using the electric motor when the power required by the vehicle is lower than a value.
