The sensor has a sensitive part i.e. probe, that is sensitive to a measured size. An evolving unit i.e. controller, is used to evolve a variable (Us) in a range of a predetermined value i.e. useful voltage value (PR), in a way representative of the measured size. A forcing unit is used to force the variable to a value located in a range of another predetermined value, different from range of values, in the event of dysfunction other than a short-circuit or a contact rupture detected in the sensor. An independent claim is also included for a method for diagnosing a sensor for delivering an electric signal.
