The device (1) has an energy supply device (8) arranged exterior to a vehicle, and a mobile energy collector i.e. pantograph (11), fixed on the vehicle. The energy supply device and the collector have surfaces that are arranged in contact with one another. A flexible metal conductive material (12) is interposed between the surfaces to form a surface contact for assuring transfer of energy between the collector and the supply device via a surface of the material, where the material comprises a flat metal braid such as shielding braid or current return braid. The flexible metal conductive material is fibrous material e.g. woven or non-woven material, or foam material.
