The method involves initiating a transaction using a client terminal (1). Digital data (5) relative to the transaction are transmitted to the terminal using a server (2). The digital data are encapsulated in an image file (8) using the server. The image file is transmitted towards the terminal using the server. The image file is displayed by a web browser (4) at the level of the terminal. A drag-and-drop action (10) of the displayed image file towards distinct software (11) is carried out by a user (7). The encapsulated data are collected from the image file using the software. An independent claim is also included for a removable device for transmitting digital data, comprising a connection unit.
