An optical fiber (1) comprises a core (90) and optical cladding (200). The core (90) is constituted by a matrix (100) of the core containing nanoparticles (110). The nanoparticles (110) are constituted by a matrix (120) of nanoparticle surrounded by an outer layer. The matrix (120) of nanoparticle comprises doping atoms of the rare earth group (130) in a proportion such that the atomic ratio between the number of atoms of the matrix (120) of nanoparticle other than oxygen, and the number of atoms of the rare earths (130) is between 300 and 1000. The outer layer consists of a matrix of the external layer is substantially free of any atom of rare earths (130), and having a thickness comprised between 1 nm and 2 nm. Such a fiber makes it possible to attenuate the mechanisms piq ("even - induced fluorescence "; or extinction induced by the pairs) and huc (" homogeneous up - conversion "; or conversion homogeneous rising).
