The system (300) has a thermal camera (302) for detecting electromagnetic radiation in a scene, where the radiation comprises a spectral band in an infrared field. A complementary metal oxide semiconductor (CMOS) camera (303) detects the electromagnetic radiation having another spectral band i.e. complementary band, where the complementary band is chosen to maximize contrast and/or signal to noise ratio between aimed target and bottom of scene. The complementary band has wavelength corresponding to point of intersection between curves corresponding to sky spectrum and spectrum of clouds.
