The device has a frame (2) provided with two hooks (22, 23), where each of the hooks is opened in a direction of another hook. One of the hooks is movably mounted with respect to the other hook between a spacing position of the hooks and a connection position of the hooks. The frame includes a gripping handle (24) located between connection areas connecting the hooks to the frame. The frame includes an adjustment unit for adjusting a position of the handle on the frame along a part of the distance that separates the connection areas. An independent claim is also included for a method for handling a plate.
