The device has a support (6) carrying magnets (7) movable by a robot between a position in which the magnets are applied against a side face (2a) of a blank stack (2) and another position in which the support and the magnets are spaced from the side face of the stack. A plate (8) made of non-ferrous material is placed in front of the magnets, where the plate is movable between a position in which the plate bears against the side face of the stack and another position in which the plate is applied against the magnets when the support and the magnets are spaced from the side face of the stack. An independent claim is also included for an installation for removal of stack of sheet steel blanks.
