The method involves defining a starting point and an end point of a path (32) by geographical coordinates i.e. global positioning system (GPS) coordinates. A profile of an initial driving operation is determined (34) by determining a velocity profile when a vehicle is associated with the path on a road. Information relative to the path is collected during driving on the path. The initial driving operation profile is corrected (36) from the collected information to provide a profile of the corrected driving operation of the vehicle for optimizing an energy balance of the vehicle.
