The device (10) has an autonomous electrical power source i.e. button battery, for supplying electrical power to a lighting element i.e. LED. A control element initiates illumination of the lighting element. The control element includes a sensor i.e. infra-red passive sensor, for detecting presence of human movement in a predetermined zone around the device in order to initiate illumination of the lighting element around the device. A protection cover protects the lighting element and the sensor and includes an opening to allow diffusion of illumination around the device.
