A fitting or coaching device for golf comprising a head 21 with a striking face and a shaft releasably securable to the head at at least 2 different offset distances from the striking face. There may be means to slidable adjust the position of the shaft and a scale to measure its position. The device may also allow for angular adjustment of the shaft with respect to the head to produce a different lie or loft. A grip may be moveable up and down the shaft, an alignment beam 54 and cooperating screen may be provided and the head 21 may have fittings for removable weights. The device may be used to custom fit golf clubs to a user's needs and physical dimensions.
