An immersive GUI, may include providing a view of geographic and geological data within at least a substantial portion of the GUI, a first GUI element, wherein transparency of the first GUI element varies depending on a location of an input device with respect to the first GUI element, and a second GUI element, wherein the second GUI element is customized based on a context. The second interface may be a search element which prioritises certain results. A light controller may be used to control the position of a light source with respect to the data so as to better present the data to the user on the screen. 2D and three dimensional views may be displayed.
