PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To configure a floor cover material of an expansion joint for a floor in such a manner that an end thereof is rotatably supported by a building frame and that connection to the end of the floor cover material is reliably maintained even when a building frame on the other side is relatively displaced in any of upward and downward directions.;SOLUTION: A support device 6 for supporting a floor cover material 5 includes: a building frame-side engagement member 61 which has an opening surface of a ring-shaped engagement portion 61d fixed into a concave surface portion 21a of a building frame 2 in such a manner as to be directed in a lengthwise direction of a clearance; a floor cover material-side engagement member 62 which has a ring-shaped engagement portion 62b fixed in the state of protruding from an end 51 of the floor cover material 5; and bolts/nuts 63 and 64 which connect the building frame and the floor cover material together by inserting a shank 63a through the opening surfaces of both the juxtaposed engagement portions 61d and 62b.
