PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize sign language translation of high accuracy.;SOLUTION: A sign language translation apparatus which performs sign language translation with respect to input data includes character division means for dividing the input data into a predetermined number of characters, statistical translation means for classifying character sets obtained by the character division means into translated characters and unknown words which were not translated by referring to a statistical translation model previously set, conversion means for performing reading conversion on the unknown words obtained by the statistical translation means, and translation result synthesis means for synthesizing the translated characters and the characters to which reading conversion is performed so that they correspond to the input data, thereby solving the above problem.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT
