PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for separating water by a separation membrane for dehydrating an organic acid aqueous solution, which membrane exhibits unexpectedly remarkable water permeability and has excellent acid resistance without damaging water separation selectivity thereof and to provide the separation membrane for dehydrating the organic acid aqueous solution, which membrane is used in the separating method, and a method for producing the separation membrane, wherein the membrane can allow an acetic acid dehydration process to be realized while attaining drastic energy saving.;SOLUTION: A method for separating water by a separation membrane is a method for separating water from an organic acid aqueous solution by the separation membrane. The separation membrane comprises a polycrystalline membrane of mordenite (the chemical composition of a skeleton thereof is AlnSi40-nO96 (wherein 2≤n≤8)). A main component of exchangeable cations existing at ion exchange sites of the mordenite is a proton (H+). The polycrystalline membrane of the mordenite is obstructed by connection of pore paths parallel to the c-axes, which are formed by, at the least, a 12-membered oxygen ring being the largest pore among pores comprising 4-, 5-, 6-, 8- and 12-membered oxygen rings, with pores oriented in directions different from one another.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT
