METHOD FOR REMOVING RADIOACTIVE CESIUM FROM AQUEOUS SOLUTION CONTAINING RADIOACTIVE CESIUM

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for reducing the amount of zeolite which has absorbed radioactive cesium as secondary waste in the case of executing a decontamination method of removing radioactive cesium from burned ash or fly ash generated when burning combustibles to which radioactive cesium has been adhered to safely treat the burned ash or fly ash by making zeolite absorb radioactive cesium.;SOLUTION: Executed is the following steps of: (A) bringing aqueous solution containing radioactive cesium and the other alkali metal into contact with zeolite to make the zeolite absorb radioactive cesium and the other alkali metal; (B) treating zeolite which has absorbed radioactive cesium and the other alkali metal with water to elute at least a part of the other alkali metal; (C) bringing aqueous solution containing radioactive cesium and the other alkali metal into contact with zeolite which has eluted at least a part of the other alkali metal to make zeolite absorb radioactive cesium in the aqueous solution as well as the other alkali metal; (D) repeating the steps (B) and (C) by the necessary number of times; and (E) solidifying zeolite which has absorbed radioactive cesium with cement, or storing it in a radiation shield vessel to execute final disposal.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT
