PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance the purification performance of the exhaust emission control device by using an adsorbent capable of efficiently adsorbing unburnt alcohol contained in a discharged exhaust gas.;SOLUTION: A first adsorbent, a second adsorbent and an exhaust purification catalyst are arranged in order from the upstream side of the flow of the exhaust gas, the first adsorbent and the send adsorbent comprise zeolite having specific SiO2/Al2O3 molar ratio in a prescribed range and the molar ratio SiO2/Al2O3 of the zeolite comprising the first adsorbent is smaller than the molar ratio SiO2/Al2O3 of the second adsorbent to increase the alcohol adsorption of the first adsorbent and the second adsorbent as the whole and as a result, even in the cold start or the like, the unburnt alcohol contained in the exhaust gas is efficiently removed by the exhaust purification catalyst.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT
