PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method which allows a back-fill material solidified on a tail seal of a shield machine to be easily removed.;SOLUTION: In a shield tunneling method, a segment 6 is assembled in a tail part 4 of a shield machine 1, and a tail void formed between the inner peripheral surface of an excavated space and the outer peripheral surface of the segment is filled with a back-filling material 15 accompanying the movement of the tail part 4 caused by boring operation of the shield machine 1.
