PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a volume reduction method of cesium containing soil, capable of easily processing soil contaminated by cesium by directly adding a power processing agent to cleaning water for the soil.;SOLUTION: A volume reduction method includes the steps of: cleaning cesium containing soil by adding water thereto (soil cleaning step); thereafter, classifying the soil into cleaned soil containing stones and sand and cleaning slurry in which fine particles are dispersed (classification step); forming a flock by adding and stirring a first powder processing agent containing an adsorbate, carbonate, inorganic coagulant and polymer coagulant to the cleaning slurry (first flocking step); and thereafter, performing solid-liquid separation (first separation step). The polymer coagulant contained in the first powder processing agent is a mixture of a first polymer coagulant and a second polymer coagulant, the first polymer coagulant uses a copolymer of acrylamide and sodium acrylate, and the second polymer coagulant uses a copolymer of acrylamide and 2-acrylamide-2-methylpropane sulfonic acid sodium.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT
