PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an atomic oscillator capable of achieving a high frequency stability by resolving instability of a resonance light pair, and to provide a method of controlling the atomic oscillator, and a quantum interference device.;SOLUTION: A quantum interference device 1 (an atomic oscillator ) includes a light generator 10, a first light separation part 20, a light mixing part 30, a metal atom 40, a second light separation part 50, a light detector 60, a controller 70, and a light modulator 80. The first light separation part separates light 12 having a constant wavelength and generated by the light generator into first light 22 and second light 24. The light modulator modulates a frequency of the second light 24 to generate third light 82. The light mixing part mixes the first light 22 and the third light 82 to irradiate the metal atom with the mixed light. The second light separation part separates the first light 52 and the third light 54 included in the light transmitted through the metal atom from each other. The light detector detects the first light 52. The controller controls a frequency of the third light 82 so that the first light 22 and the third light 82 forms a resonance light pair on the basis of a detection signal 62 of the light detector.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT
