PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing an anode material which enables battery design for well balanced low irreversible capacity and low anode charge transfer resistance (R).SOLUTION: The manufacturing method includes at least a mixing process in which an organic compound whose softening point is 150°C or less and an organic compound containing an element of periodic table group 13 are mixed at above the softening point of the organic compound, a coating process in which the mixture obtained in the mixing process is coated on a carbon material at a rate of 0.05 mass% to 0.6 mass%, both ends incl., by mass of periodic table group 13 element based on 100 mass% of the carbon material, and a calcination process in which the coated carbon material obtained in the coating process is calcined at 600°C to 2300°C, both ends inclusive.
