PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inexpensive and high-strength support column for a high-rise building, which can receive an axial force by a smaller section, and a construction method for the support column.;SOLUTION: A support column 20 for use in a high-rise building includes a steel pipe concrete column which has concrete filled into a steel pipe and in which a core reinforcement reinforced with a spiral hoop is arranged. Another core reinforcement is inserted through panel zone blocks which are provided at the upper and lower ends of the steel pipe concrete column, and the steel pipe concrete column and the panel zone blocks are connected and fixed so that an axial force can be received by a small section.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT
