PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a road-vehicle communication system capable of accurately estimating a distance between a street light and a vehicle and to provide a vehicle position detection device capable of correcting a vehicle position using an existing facility.;SOLUTION: A street light 1 blinks an LED lump 6. Blinking of the LED lump 6 is modulated by communication data including an ID number of the street light 1 as well as height information on the street light 1. An on-vehicle device 11: captures a blinking state of the street light 1 with a video camera 12; obtains the communication data by demodulating the same from a captured image; and estimates a distance D between a vehicle 10 and the street light 1. In a vehicle position detection device 17 on the vehicle 10, a GPS positioning section 18 obtains present information on a present position of the vehicle 10. A vehicle position information correction section 20 corrects the present position of the vehicle 10 obtained by the GPS positioning section 18 using the position information of the street light 1 specified from the ID number thereof obtained through the on-vehicle device 11 as well as the distance D between the vehicle 10 and the street light 1 estimated by the on-vehicle device 11.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT
