PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coloring composition that is useful for preparing a color filter and high in color purity, by which a high absorption constant in a thin layer can be obtained, and that is excellent in fastness (in particular heat resistance and light resistance), wherein a colored film can be formed which is excellent in voltage-holding capacity when the color filter is used for a liquid crystal display and a voltage is applied.;SOLUTION: This coloring composition contains at least one kind selected from a compound expressed by general formula (1) and a tautomer thereof. In the formula, R² to R⁵ each independently represents a hydrogen atom or a monovalent substituent; R⁷ represents a hydrogen atom, halogen atom, alkyl group, aryl group or heterocyclic group; Ma represents a metal or metal compound; R⁸ to R¹⁷ each independently represents a hydrogen atom or monovalent substituent; and respective sets of R² and R³, R⁴ and R⁵, R⁸ and R⁹, R⁹ and R¹⁰, R¹⁰ and R¹¹, R¹¹ and R¹², R¹³ and R¹⁴, R¹⁴ and R¹⁵, R¹⁵ and R¹⁶, and R¹⁶ and R¹⁷, each independently, may be bonded each other to form a five-, six- and seven-membered saturated or unsaturated ring.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT
